PSC Week 2 - Things I'm Loving

Today for my Personal Style Challenge I have gone and gotten a little bit outrageous.

I am loving the fact that I am wearing a dress as a skirt.

It was a boob tube.

You likey??

I am loving big sisters hairdo.

It only lasted five minutes. I knew it would.

So I grabbed the camera quick smart.

I am loving our trip to the airport this morning to pick up two amazing humans.

I am loving baby sister embracing her food.

I am just loving life today.

Lemon Coconut Squares

Okay people.

Here's my latest lemony treat for you all.

My good friend Cookie, answered my call.

This stuff ticks all of the boxes for me.

Lemon. Tick.

Coconut. Tick.

Easy. Yup.

And there is no baking involved!

Lemon Coconut Squares

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
125 grams of butter
250 grams milk arrowroot biscuits
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 cup of coconut

Lemon Icing:
1 and 3/4 cups of icing sugar
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
15 grams butter
2 tablespoons of coconut

1. Place condensed milk and butter into a small saucepan, stir over a gentle heat until butter is melted and mixture is combined.

2. Crush biscuits finely (I used the food processor) add lemon rind and coconut and mix well.

3. Add warm milk and butter mixture to the biscuit crumbs and mix.

4. Press into a lined tin and refrigerate for 1 hour.

5. Ice with lemon icing and sprinkle with coconut (I missed the sprinkle as I only just had enough for the base.)

Lemon Icing: Combine sifted icing sugar, lemon juice and soft butter in a bowl. Mix well to make a smooth icing.

If you are a lemon-lover like me you have to make this stuff.

Even if you are not, give it a go.

Seriously.

It's divine.

Right, I better go and get dressed!! See you later on today.

3. Pants - Glassons

I must admit, my shoes aren't old. I bought them yesterday.

PSC Week 2 - Monday

Here we go again team!

Another week of Personal Style Challenge!

I am actually really loving it!!

I would love you to show me what you have dug out of your wardrobe recently. Post it on your blog, or send me an e-mail. I have already had a photo from Sars, flashing her gorgeous matching high heels and handbag that she dug out of her wardrobe!!

This morning I woke up and put this on...

Then, I thought to myself,
"Oh come on Belinda. This is exactly the outfit you are trying NOT to wear." (Granted I do like the top)

These jeans have been my go-to jeans and I have basically been wearing them 4/5 weekdays for the last 8 months.

I need to let them go.

They needed to go in the rubbish yesterday.

So then I put this on...

Yes, you are not seeing things...

I have actually done my hair this morning!!

I have even put some fake tan on after seeing my glaring, florescent white arms in my last post.

Maybe tomorrow I will splash out and put some make up on...

I'm el-cheapo again today too!

Dress - Glassons
Cardy - K-Mart
Shoes - As seen on Friday
Belt - Came off another dress I own.

I am proud to say I am not one of those girls who needs to dress head-to-toe in designer labels (Those who know me well know that I love to brag about my bargains!) nor can I afford to do so, however I do think I need to invest more in some basic essentials.

It makes more sense to me investing in a pair of quality pants that will last a few years instead of buying one or two cheap pairs every year.

What are you wearing today?

Real Life Bloggers

I was first inspired to write a blog by my good friend Ange. If you have been reading here for a while you would have heard me talk about her. Heaps. Anyway, back then Ange was the only person who I actually knew that wrote a blog. It was new to me and a bit different, but I was interested and gave it a go. I didn't really know where it would lead, if I would keep up with my blog or not, or if it was just a phase. I have really enjoyed blogging, and really wish that ALL of my friends blogged, especially those who I don't hear from often, because you can still keep up with what is going on in their worlds, you can see things, where they live and who they surround themselves with. It's a great way to sneak a glimpse into peoples lives.

Anyway, there are so many reasons to blog, not just for keeping friends and family up-to-date with your life, what is in your wardrobe and how fast your kids are growing! I have been working on a few of my friends to begin blogs, especially Sarah who has launched her own photography business, and in the last few months have seen more people that I know start their very own blogs!!

Excitement!!!!

I know that people thought I was a bit of a weirdo when I started writing my blog. Particularly those who didn't really know what blogs and blogging were all about. Now I love that it is becoming more and more common for every day people to write about their lives. Just normal people writing about their normal lives that other normal people can relate to, be inspired by, and gain enjoyment from.

Here are some of my real life bloggers. People I have meet. I guess you could say we were friends before the blogging began... as opposed to being friends, because of a connection made through blogging.

Sarah - writes a photography blog. One of my best friends, you meet her here as my bridesmaid and here as a guest blogger. Pure talent.

Kirsten - writes a fashion blog. A good and old friend of mine who I lived and studied with. You have meet her here and here as a guest blogger.

Olivia - writes a blog about her lives and adventures. My oldest and dearest friend, who you have met here as my bridesmaid.

Anna - writes a blog about her life. She has just begun and has a lot to share. I can't wait till she starts sharing some of her recipes!! You have met her here as a guest blogger.

Abbie - has just begun blogging. As in in the weekend! She probably doesn't even know that I have discovered her blog yet! Abbie and her family are good family friends of ours. Her mother I also consider my friend, was my teaching associate, and her father was the MC at our wedding! Keep your eyes on her as I know she will have lots to share. Abbie ran the Moro Half Marathon recently as well! Yaye!! Ali is one of Abbies besties. She is super talented and writes a beautiful design blog. Another lovely lady.

There is also the beautiful Ange, the gorgeous Sinead, and lovely Jess, all my real life blogging peps!!

Go bloggers!!!!

Personal Style Challenge - Sunday

Welcome Sunday Funday!

I have noticed in the last week, that so many of my clothes are black and white, or black or white....

Hmmm, maybe I should have added fake tan as part of my look today?!?!

In fact I have learnt a whole heap about what is actually in my wardrobe and I encourage everyone to try out their own style challenge... and let me know if you do!

I have even been talking to people, who after reading my posts, have had the urge to have an extra poke around in their wardrobes this week.

To be honest, I did think that this series could have become a bit of a drag as the end of the week loomed, however I have really enjoyed the challenge. I actually feel as though I have a pile of new clothes!

I'm top-to-toe cheap today...
1. Jeans - Glassons
2. Top - Supre
3. Cardy - Also House of G (Glassons)
4. Booties - Number One Shoes (as seen on Monday)

I'm thinking about doing my Personal Style Challenge for another week?

Please help me decide by voting on my poll,
on the sidebar of my blog
underneath my e-mail address...

Personal Style Challenge - Saturday

To be honest, I spent most of today in my running gear. I managed to get out this morning for a jog, then by the time I snuck in a shower and then got myself ready it was 2pm...

Another 'sack' from my wardrobe.

My mum gifted it to me recently. I don't actually know where she got it from.

Love my boots from Andrea Biani.
They are as old as the hills, and need a good polish. A really good polish actually.

Tie Dye Scarf from Max.

I love tie dye.

It was cold today! So then I put my trusty Lee Denim cardy on top.

Then I got real

and swapped my boots for my Emu Ugs...

...and my scarf for my baby girl.

The best accessory money can't buy!

It's safe to say the Uggs will be staying on as Hag and I intend on sharing a bottle of wine, eating a bag of Maltesers and watching the All Blacks whip some French butts!!

See you all tomorrow.

Personal Style Challenge - Friday

Dun, dun, dun... the white jean.

Personally, I have a rule about white jeans. It's simple.

Wear white jeans, cover your booty.

And then I saw this picture...

HOT!!!

If I looked like that in white jeans I'd wear them everyday!

So this morning I got up and put this on.

I think I had marked the jeans before I even go them on.

I mean, what kind of mama can wear these all day and keep them reasonably clean?!?!

Not I.

Far out I look TIRED!?!?!? It's been a long week this one with my Hag working about 30 hours per day!!

It's funny, I felt a little exposed showing my toosh in a pair of skinny whites.

Peek-a-boo!

So I wore them for all of 15 minutes and then put on, what I affectionately call, 'The Sack'

For obvious reasons.

I look like I'm wearing one.

TIRED MUCH!?!!? Oh and do you like the washing piling up around the mirror?! Fashion is my priority this week.

SO comfy!!!! I brought it from a neat design shop in Arrowtown last year.

Well-loved booties - I can't remember but they will have been from The Warehouse or Number One Shoes I'm sure. I buy so many shoes from them both!!

So what worked today?!? Anything?? Nothing???

Should I give the white jeans to my gorgeous friend Ange with the most luscious, long skinny legs ever!?!

Hmmm, maybe tomorrow I will splash out and wear my nice, more than $20 boots to celebrate the weekend!!

P.S - Are you an Apple?

Personal Style Challenge - Thursday

It's all about stripes today.

I love stripes...

(Pictures from Pinterest)

Dress and Belt - Glassons
Boots - I brought in Melbourne

Again, its all old and it's all things that I haven't worn for yonks...
it really is amazing the clothes that are just collecting dust, I could actually be wearing so much more.

Now, opinions on white jeans...

classy or trashy???
